BARTOW — Polk County School Board members are happy with Superintendent Jacqueline Byrd and they recently put their praise to paper in her first evaluation.

Consultant Tom Freijo, who conducted the evaluation process, reported the superintendent more than meets expectations of the board in all areas: board relationships, general leadership, staff leadership, curriculum leadership, relationships with stakeholders, fiscal responsibilities and professional growth.

Byrd received the highest ratings in general leadership and relationships with stakeholders, and the lowest ratings in fiscal responsibility and staff relationships.

“Everything I heard and read was generally quite positive,” Freijo said.
